Blending the Colors of Fall into Your Home Décor

Blending the Colors of Fall into Your Home Décor

When you think of fall, what comes to mind? Leaves turning crimson red, golden yellow, and burnt orange? Pumpkins, gourds, corn stalk bunches, and other front porch decorations? Warm sweaters, crisp mornings and football weather? Soup season? Or how about snuggling up and sipping some warm cider with your special someone? Well, fall is all of these things, and more!

Fall forces us to make a shift towards spending more time inside, as temperatures drop and the days grow shorter. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since it also gives us some special opportunities to enjoy warmth indoors. And when it comes to your home, fall is a great time to refresh your décor so you can create a really inviting environment for you and your loved ones. The easiest way to do this is to take inspiration from the seasonal hues of fall. These vibrant jewel tones and neutrals instantly create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, no matter the season.

Welcome Fall with an Accent Wall

Rich browns, lush greens, deep blues, vibrant oranges, and rich reds. The colors of the season are a must for creating a beautiful fall space. You can blend and add splashes of color with accent pillows, blankets, or other accessories to add a pop of color to your existing décor, or if you’re ready to try something a bit bolder, you can infuse some color into your interior environment with a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Think pumpkin, scarlet, amber or shades of brown from chocolate to taupe.

If you’re not ready to repaint the entire room, you don’t have to! Painting a single accent wall is the perfect way to add some color and spruce up your space for fall. Don’t shy away from using vibrant autumn colors, as long as you balance your new color with the accents around the room such that they coordinate and complement each other. Be sure to also include some lighter neutrals and clean whites so it doesn’t feel too dark. Obviously, you’ll want to take into account the color of the surrounding walls as well, to ensure that the total color palette works together harmoniously.

Another option is not to repaint the walls at all, but instead, focus on painting other features as accent areas. For example, you could repaint your ceiling, a door, window and door trim, or crown molding (if you have it). If you’re willing to think outside of the box a little, you’re sure to find some unique places to infuse color into your space, whether in a bold way or in a more subtle manner.

Decorate with Plush Throws and Pillows

Another way to blend some fall color into your space is to play with texture using your accent pillows and throws. For example, try draping a faux fur or plush velvet throw over the back of a chair, a sofa, or even across an ottoman. These textured touches will make your space look and feel warmer and more inviting.

If you’re having a hard time deciding whether to go with faux fur or velvet, you could always just choose a throw which offers the best of both! Our Velvet Faux Fur Throw is stylish, chic, and luxuriously cozy – to the point that you’ll want to wrap up in it every time you come in the room!

Add Some Cozy Layers to Your Bed, Too

Fall is also a great time to spruce up your bedroom by adding some extra touches of texture and accent to your bed. Your bedroom should be a sanctuary, the most comfortable room in your home. To create this comfy zone, choose things that bring you real joy and true relaxation. We’ve mentioned adding some throws and pillows. Another option is to use some new shams to cover the top-layer pillows you’ve already got. You could add a quilted blanket or coverlet as a top bed layer, or use it as a folded feature at the foot of your bed. These can be used to add some soft texture, give your bed a more finished look, as well as providing you with a little added warmth on a chilly night.

Take a look at our Lux Diamond Blanket/Coverlet which comes in two sizes and is available in an array of soft, neutral colors – perfect for adding both texture and comfort. Also check out our Lux 3-Piece Duvet Cover & Sham Set. It’s ultra-soft, luxurious, and stylish!

Add Natural Elements

The signature colors of fall are drawn from nature, so why not bring the outdoors in through your décor? This can be as simple as a copper urn filled with hay stalks or dried grasses or a beautiful arrangement of seasonal flowers in rich autumnal shades. Pumpkins are another natural element you can use to bring fall into your home décor. You can use classic orange pumpkins or look for those in soft neutral shades or white. Pile them up on a sideboard or table or use them to create vignettes throughout the house along with other harvest-inspired items and produce.

Choose Fall Colors for your Table

Another way you can introduce a fall palette into your home is through your dinnerware. Choose glass goblets in jewel or leaf shades, use a tablecloth in a warm plaid or neutral, and choose special seasonal china. Bronze or rose gold flatware is another seasonal addition. This works especially well if you have open shelves in your kitchen or dining room, where you can display these pieces even when they are not being used during a meal.

We wish you a Happy Fall, and we encourage you to take this opportunity to create a warm, cozy, indoor oasis for yourself and your loved ones!
